SoftLand is Realturf’s shock-attenuation system designed to help meet EN 1177:2008 playground surfacing requirements for critical fall height (CFH). By integrating an elastomeric layer beneath the turf, SoftLand cushions falls and helps reduce injury risk while preserving a natural, consistent surface. Ideal for schools, daycares, community parks, and residential play sets.
SoftLand is a RealTech® elastomeric underlayment installed beneath the turf and above a free-draining base. Available in pads/tiles of different thicknesses, it’s engineered to deliver a specified CFH rating (commonly ≥ 2.0 m, depending on configuration). The system is invisible from above, compatible with standard turf and infill, and designed to maintain performance across typical outdoor temperature and moisture ranges.
During a fall, SoftLand’s resilient layer deforms and spreads impact energy, lowering peak forces (g-max) and reducing Head Injury Criterion (HIC) values to the targeted CFH level. Integrated perforations/grooves support vertical and lateral drainage, so water exits quickly into the base. Paired with correct turf, infill, and base construction, SoftLand delivers a surface that’s safe, comfortable, and compliant—without feeling bouncy or unstable underfoot.
